Physician-led medical aesthetics in Surrey

I founded Serene Rejuvenation on a simple belief: aesthetic medicine deserves the same rigour as any other branch of medicine. After 15 years as a physician, I still see skin the way I was trained to: not as a surface to be treated, but as living tissue governed by cellular processes.

My medical training began with cells rather than patients. Between 2000 and 2004 I studied cell biology and genetics at the University of British Columbia, and the question behind every course was the same: what is a cell doing, and why? I came away knowing how the membrane around a cell is put together and how a cell builds its proteins and moves them to where they are needed. I also learned how a cell reads the instructions in its DNA and how neighbouring cells pass messages to each other.

That knowledge is the foundation of everything I do at Serene Rejuvenation, because each treatment here acts on those same processes. The collagen that keeps skin firm is made by cells called fibroblasts. The hyaluronic acid in a filler is a substance your skin produces on its own. A neuromodulator works by quieting the message a nerve sends to a muscle. Laser and light treatments succeed by encouraging your skin to repair and rebuild itself.

Knowing the biology is also what lets me tell a genuine advance from a clever sales pitch. If I suggest a treatment, it is because I know what it will do inside your skin. If I steer you away from one, the same knowledge is behind that advice.

How I trained

I went on to earn my medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Leicester in the UK in 2011, and I am a family physician in Surrey, BC, certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP). I serve as Medical Director of CityMed Medical Clinic in Surrey alongside my role as founder and Medical Director of Serene Rejuvenation. Fifteen years of practice shaped the habits this clinic runs on: take a proper history, examine before recommending, explain the reasoning in plain language, and never treat a concern the assessment doesn’t support. Every consultation, laser plan and injectable treatment at Serene Rejuvenation is my work. You see me, not a rotating cast.

What I use

The clinic’s technology follows the same logic. Collagen, the protein scaffold that gives skin its structure, is built, maintained and remodelled by cells. Laser and light treatments work by prompting exactly that machinery: controlled light and thermal energy trigger a repair response that remodels collagen over the weeks that follow. For someone trained in cell biology, that mechanism is the point. How I practice

Consultation first, always. Some of the most valuable advice I give is “not yet” or “not that treatment”, because a plan you don’t need is a bad plan at any price. When treatment is right for you, I plan it conservatively, price it transparently on our pricing page, and review it as your skin responds. That is what physician-led actually means here: medical judgement at every step, not just a doctor’s name on the door.
