Understanding
What’s really
going on
Milia are tiny, firm white bumps that form when keratin, the protein our skin is built from, becomes trapped in a small cyst just beneath the surface. They look like whiteheads but behave nothing like them: there is no pore opening, so they cannot be squeezed out, and scrubs and creams rarely shift them. They are harmless, and common around the eyes and cheeks at any age.
Because milia sit beneath intact skin, and because other small bumps can look similar, Dr. Sarai examines the skin first to confirm the bumps are in fact milia. Removal is then matched to their size, number and location: physician-performed cryotherapy treats individual milia precisely, while options from PCA chemical peels through the lighter laser peels help where milia are numerous or the surrounding skin needs renewal too. The plan is agreed together at your consultation.
Not sure which treatment is right for you? Every plan starts with a consultation and a proper look at your skin.
