What’s really
going on
Cherry angiomas are small, bright-red bumps made of clustered blood vessels. They are common, benign, and tend to multiply with age. Many people would still rather be rid of them, particularly on the face, chest or arms.
BBL® HEROic™ light therapy targets the blood vessels inside the angioma without harming the skin around it: the vessels absorb the light energy, seal shut, and the spot fades over the following weeks. Physician-performed cryotherapy offers a precise freeze as an alternative for suitable spots, with fractional resurfacing reserved for the few that need it. How we treat it
Cherry angiomas are clusters of tiny blood vessels, which makes them ideal targets for vascular-selective light. BBL® HEROic™ delivers energy in wavelengths that haemoglobin absorbs strongly: the vessels inside the angioma take up the light, heat, and seal shut, while the surrounding skin, which lacks that concentration of blood, is left essentially untouched. The sealed vessels are then cleared naturally by the body over the following weeks.
The medical step comes first. Most small red spots are benign cherry angiomas, but not all red lesions are, so Dr. Sarai confirms each one before it is treated. That is a brief check with an important purpose, and it is the difference between cosmetic treatment in a physician-led clinic and cosmetic treatment anywhere else.
Who it’s for
Anyone bothered by these small, bright-red bumps (commonly on the chest, abdomen, arms or face), and particularly people noticing them multiply with age, which is normal and expected. Treatment is quick and suits almost any schedule. If you have many spots, they can be treated in batches; if new ones appear later, as they often do, they are simply assessed and treated at a follow-up visit.
What to expect
Sessions are short, often minutes for a handful of spots. Each pulse feels like a brief warm snap. Treated angiomas typically darken to grey or deep red immediately, which is the intended response, then fade progressively over two to four weeks as the body clears the sealed vessels. There is minimal downtime; most people carry on with their day directly.
Many angiomas resolve after a single treatment; larger or deeper ones sometimes need a second pass, which Dr. Sarai will assess at your follow-up. Because new angiomas are part of how some skin ages, we treat this as ongoing maintenance rather than a one-time fix: quick visits, as needed, over time.
