ProFractional^™ Laser for Acne Scars

ProFractional^™ is an ablative fractional erbium laser made by Sciton^®. Rather than resurfacing the entire skin surface, it creates thousands of pinpoint channels surrounded by untouched tissue. The untouched skin speeds healing, while the channels trigger deep collagen rebuilding.

A topical numbing cream is applied first, and most people tolerate treatment well, describing brief heat and prickling. Sensitivity varies with the depth being treated: deeper settings used for scars feel more intense than lighter passes.

Every laser treatment at Serene, ProFractional^™ included, is performed by Dr. Sarai. Depth and density are medical decisions made pass by pass; she makes them herself while treating your skin, then reviews healing at follow-up.

Typically two to four days of redness and mild swelling, occasionally with pinpoint bleeding immediately after deeper treatments. Most people are comfortable in public within a few days, while the skin continues renewing beneath the surface for weeks.

Scar remodelling is gradual: most plans involve one to three sessions spaced several weeks apart, sometimes combined with HALO^® or SkinPen^® microneedling. Dr. Sarai maps your scars and sets out a realistic series at consultation.

Collagen built through fractional resurfacing matures over three to six months, and improvement in scars and texture is long-lasting. Skin keeps ageing, so sun protection and occasional maintenance help preserve the result.

Avoid tanning for several weeks before treatment, pause retinoids as directed, and tell us about cold sores, keloid tendencies or recent isotretinoin use; each affects planning. Specific instructions are provided when you book.

Keep the skin clean and moisturised as instructed, avoid picking, and protect the new skin from the sun every day. We supply a written aftercare routine and check how healing is progressing.
